Green

Green is a beautiful colour to see. Continuing on the theme, it resonates with both auras and chakras.

Auras
When I see green in an aura, generally it’s a deep, luscious green. It’s like walking through a forest – it shows that the person is in a great, well-balanced metaphysical place. It often pairs with purple (angelic protection) and blue (physical balance).

Chakras

Green relates to the Heart chakra. It governs our ability to love, and also shows the emotions of joy and inner peace. If the heart chakra is blocked, it can be healed by Bikram Yoga and ensuring our heart is open to others. Certain foods help keep the energy flowing – green leafy vegetables and green tea are among the best.

When using essential oils, Rose and Pine are great to use for the Heart chakra. There are some great gem stones used to heal the Heart chakra also:
Emerald: This stone helps with love and romance, as well as increasing sensitivity and loyalty in yourself and others.
Malachite: This helps cleanse emotional issues, release negative/painful emotions and brings harmony.
Green Jade: Brings in harmony and serenity, and assists in balances emotions
Peridot: It’s a stone of relationships – this stone brings openness and acceptance.
Rose Quartz: Unconditional love. This stone opens the heart centre to all forms of love.

A leopard can’t change its spots. That’s OK, you’re not a leopard, you’re human!

about me, change, positive

We often hear, when faced with someone who says “I’m going to change”, that “A leopard can’t change its spots”. It’s a well-meaning advisory with the implication that saying you’ll change is one thing, actually changing is another. Change is difficult to effect, and habits are hard to break, whether they’re chewing your nails or being unfairly critical of yourself. Here’s the thing, though: that analogy is kind of silly. You take the spots of leopard – that’s a result of skin pigmentation. Let’s implement this saying in a more literal manner to illustrate something: “John swears he’ll give up alcohol, but he can’t change. He can’t rearrange the moles on his shoulder, you know!” Blank stares. What does John’s ability to kick his boozy ways have to do with moles?

We use sayings all the time, and this one is used to demonstrate that people are incapable of change – that they’re preset, hardwired and it’s a foregone conclusion: John will talk about change, but he’ll still sell his Granny for three beers. Mary will swear she’ll get her act together, but she’ll still cheat. Here’s the thing, though – some behaviours are innate (instinctual behaviours you can’t change) and learned behaviours (this is the stuff you pick up from family, friends, society as a whole).

Learned behaviour does have he ability to be changed. Why am I getting caught up in all this? Because the person I am today is a heck of a lot different to who I was 18 months ago, and it’s due to not only a willingness to change, but predicated on a desire for things to not stay the same. I didn’t wake up one day, start skipping out of bed and in love with my fellow human. My process of change has been an evolution that has required a severe rewiring of my thoughts and actions, and it hasn’t finished yet.

So what’s changed? How has it changed? Why has it changed?

I realised it wasn’t you, it was me
You can hear it from friends, family, colleagues as often as they care to say it, but only you can grow the seeds of change until they flower. For me, I realised that I didn’t want to keep living my life the way it was. Work, home, the lot of it. I was unhappy, and to continue down this path would simply take time from myself and those that I cared about. The Universe could shift things around as much as possible, but if I wasn’t listening, then nothing would change. The onus was on me – with the love and support of my guides, angels, family and friends – to make a positive change.

I’m more grateful – I don’t take things for granted.
Oh my goodness I’m blessed. I’m certain that I still only have the smallest understanding of how blessed I am for the fact that I live in a first world country, my limbs work and I have a roof over my head. I’m grateful for family members and friends who have helped me when I arrived back in Australia with literally just a few dollars to my name. Before, I would have just assumed that everything would magically be taken care of – but I’ve seen how fast life can change, and I’m eternally grateful for any and all help I’ve received on my journey.

I choose to be positive
I start my days with positive thoughts, and I look for the best in situations. I’ve driven some friends to distraction with my seemingly endless positive quotes and inspirations on Facebook, but I wouldn’t have it any other way, because I also know that other friends love what I post and look forward to it. I’m not a mindless robot who only thinks happy thoughts – I’m human, and I get pissed at the people walking slowly in front of me, or the person who clearly has 12 things in the “10 Items Or Less” lane. What’s changed in the last year is that I realised that emotion for what it is, acknowledge it, accept it and let it go. I don’t hold it in then unleash it on someone else.

I surround myself with like minded people, and I had to “dump” some friends
Looking back, this has been a difficult but critical step. I held on to friendships because they were convenient, out of a sense of duty or because I didn’t want to break contact with someone. The change here has been due to a realisation that I’ve started on a different life path, and the values I now hold are different to those I was interacting with. This has been difficult, and some of my former friends didn’t understand – in fact, some of the friends I’ve held on to still don’t understand: “Why don’t you do X anymore?” “Why do you feel like you have to change?” Well, I was honest with myself, and I realised that I only have one life, and I may as we’ll spend it doing things I want to do – and I got tired of making “Yo’ Momma” jokes and being negative all the time.

Have I finished changing?
I don’t think so. In the last year, some things have changed, some have stayed the same. It’s an evolving cycle. There will be aspects of the change that I keep and some that don’t serve my best purpose, so when I reach that road, I’ll leave those parts behind me. Right now it’s about ensuring that I maintain the positive habits I’ve been cultivating – self-acceptance, kindness, listening to my intuition, doing my best to help others – and letting those seeds bloom.

Change is hard. It’s frightening. It’s constant, exhausting effort. It’s easy to slip back into old ways, comforting routines and give up. DON’T Everyone goes through challenging times. We lose love. We find trouble. We take chances that don’t pan out, we get frustrated with how things are working out. It’s ok. Don’t fear change, just work out where you are, where you want to be and what resources you need to get you there – self, family, friends, guides, professional counselling – whatever it takes. Keep you chin up, and understand you’ll get knocked down. It’s not how many times that you get knocked down, but how many times you get back up that helps you succeed.

Blood Moon, full moon, the Moon

Auras are the area I generally work in, however in the last week I’ve been drawn to lunar energy – between the full moon, the eclipse and the “Blood Moon”, my curiousity has been piqued – I’ve been doing my best to get a crash course in Lunar energy, how the moon’s energy can help us and what the “Blood Moon” that’s been all over the media is all about. In this post, we’ll examine what the big deal is, why it matters and how you can feel the effects of the lunar energy on your interactions with others in the physical and spiritual world. We are often told by metaphysical friends that the new moon is a time to set intentions, clear energy and move forward, but why?

Whether you identify as Pagan, Christian, Hindi, Muslim, Buddhist or Jewish, the moon is a revered figure of worship – it rules our emotions, brings us new blessings and helps clear negative patterns. The moon also allows us to understand ourselves on a personal level – due to its feminine energy it offers a window to our own moods, how we react to them, our habits and memories.

In terms of general lunar energy, the moon can be best explained as an example of yin/yang energy – two halves (Sun and Moon) making a balanced whole. Astrologically speaking, it rules Cancer and asserts itself by helping our friends in Cancer light up the dark with genuine gestures and emotions, as well as showing its ever-changing side by filling them with the need to transition and keep moving, as opposed to staying in one place.

The Sun is a masculine energy (yang) so the Moon represents female energy (yin). Two forces creating balance. The aspects of the moon – waxing, full and waning – are given names in Pagan rituals: Maiden, Mother and Crone, showing their influence as they progress through their cycle and the growth of energy until the moon is full, then its waning power until it passes away to be reborn in the next cycle. Symbolically, the waning moon represents letting go, a quiet time. The new moon represents new beginnings – a fresh start. When the moon enters its waxing phase, it’s indicative of growth, manifestation and attainment. Lastly, there is the full moon.

One of the most consistent beliefs is that the full moon is a time for full power – the moon is at its most energetic, clarity is increased and desires are obtained. It’s a great time to use the lunar energy to charge crystals and tarot cards – leave them out, loose, under moonlight and let the associated element (Water, as the moon rules the tides) wash the negative or constricting energy from them. If you’re in a position where you can sleep with some moonlight on you, you may also notice its cleansing effects – a feeling of refreshment on waking, and less mental clutter.

So, this week there was what’s been termed a “Blood Moon”. The term refers to an eclipse where the sun moves behind the moon, colouring it red. There’s also a lot of chatter around prophecies, energy from the moon and the end of days.

Blood Moon is a relatively new term, and certainly has risen to prominence due to books by John Hagee, a pastor in the US who is using the following to verses to highlight the situation:
Joel 2:31 “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord,” and
Acts 2:20 “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord.”

Adding to this theory are two intriguing factors:
1) This “Blood Moon” is the first of four – a tetrad. There will be four successive total lunar eclipses, with no partial lunar eclipses in between, each of which is separated from the other by six lunar months (six full moons) – in 2014 and 2015.

2) In addition, the four blood moons occur across the Jewish holidays of Passover and The Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) – this seems to historically indicate a bad/good scenario for our Jewish friends. In 1492, Spain expelled the Jews. On the upside, America was discovered, and many Jews settled there. In 1948, after the horrors of the Holocaust and World War II, Israel was reborn as a nation. In 1967, Israel won the Six Day war and reunited Jerusalem. Understandably, there’s both curiousity and apprehension about the current tetrad and what that means for Israel and the world currently.

Personally, I’m divided – I don’t believe that the “Blood Moon” is a harbinger of death, destruction and judgement, although I do believe that the Moon does have cleansing power when it’s full. I’ll often sit outside in quiet contemplation under the moon, meditating and making the most of the opportunity to reset my metaphysical alarm clock. I’ll always take the time to give my cards and crystals some exposure to the moon, as I want to ensure that the energy that flows through them is fresh and positive. As the moon moves from full to waning, I’ll refrain from reading under the moon or exposing my cards or crystals to it – perhaps it’s superstition, but I feel that as the moon wanes, it draws back its energy, which leads me more into quiet solitude and away from its influence – as mentioned before in our discussion of the moon phases.

I hope this helps to answer any questions you’ve had. No, wait. I hope you have heaps of questions or answers you’d like to share with me. I’d love to either find you answers or gain insight from you. Feel free to leave a comment or send me an email: australianauraguy@gmail.com
